This portrait reflects my emotional perception of a person. The green tint serves as a metaphorical symbol of youth, vitality, and harmony with nature. The young man depicted on the canvas is Balinese, living on the island year‑round. Bali has a hot climate, and he works as a salesperson in an electronics store. He also owns a Suzuki Satria motorcycle. The atmosphere on Bali is unique — bright, sunny, and full of warmth — and I wanted to convey this through vivid, lively colors. Pink, for me, is associated with tenderness, love, and a childlike perception of the world. Balinese people often resemble children in their openness, a certain naivety, and a blend of spiritual and emotional harmony. Perhaps their lifestyle and constant movement on motorcycles shape a philosophy of ‘living for today.’ For a Balinese person, a motorcycle is almost like an extension of their own body. The contrast between pink and green enhances the sense of vitality and emotional depth.
